My second finished knit from KnitKnit...
(I have no idea why this photo is so huge.)
Pattern: Ujein Vest by Eugene Ong from KnitKnit: Projects + Profiles from Knitting's New Wave by Sabrina Gschwandtner
Yarn: Gifted a long time ago -- I have no idea what it is!
Needles: US 13 straight and circular needles
(edited to add) Gauge: 3 sts and 5 rows per inch in garter stitch; 5.5 sts and 8 rows per 2 inches in 1x1 rib
Start to Finish: Around January 27 - February 4
Mods: Because the vest ended up way too short for me, I added about 4" to the bottom after it was assembled by picking up stitches all the way around and working in whatever the pattern was, whether it be garter stitch or 1x1 rib.
Notes: So cool! This vest is constructed with four pieces: two long strips of garter stitch, and two triangular pieces with long strips of garter stitch coming out of the top, all wrapped around ingeniously. It was a lot of seaming, but it was a lot of fun, too, to watch it all come together.
In the pattern photo, the deep v in the back goes down much further than mine does, and the hanging piece is much more drapey. I still think it's pretty groovy, though.
I am in love with the creative construction of this vest. The criss-crossing strips of knitting even made cute little cap sleeves.
For my next project from this book, I may or may not be starting the knitted room...
