Nine Rubies

Two Saturdays ago, I headed down to San Mateo for a wonderful evening at Nine Rubies yarn shop. Last year's event was great, and I was looking forward to this year's for weeks -- especially since I'd get to hang out with Carrie of Irish Girlie Knits again as well as the fabulous Romi Hill. In my rush to get out the door to pick up Sophy on time, make sure I hadn't forgotten any last minute Daniel-related instructions for Neill (Note: He completely knows how to take care of Daniel by himself. I just can't let go sometimes.), and carry my bag of samples, I completely forgot my camera again. So my documentation of the evening is limited to what I was able to capture with my trusty iPhone and Hipstamatic app.

Here's the view from my table (right behind me was the refreshment table -- lucky me!). On the left you can see Carrie wearing her gorgeous Fiar infinity scarf, and the head poking up in the middle of the photo is Susan, whom I had the pleasure of meeting last year.

Here is Christina, a local knitter who also works at Nine Rubies.  I had a great time chatting with her about her fantastic shawl, traveling with young'uns, and life in general.  For some reason, we also wanted the foam head sporting the bulky-weight Nola in our photo as well.

Another featured designer of the night was Andrea of AG mode, a super sweet lady who makes magic with Tunisian crochet!

And Romi and I took a photo of each other taking a photo of each other.  Again.

 

At the end of the night, we gathered with our gracious hosts from Nine Rubies for a photo op... 

And then I said, "Ok, everyone make a funny face!" After the photo was taken, I wondered aloud if I was the only one who had actually done it and everyone laughed and I thought I heard someone say that I may be right.  But I thought they were joking.  Guess not.

It was a wonderful, wonderful evening, and I'd like to say a huge thanks to the fantastic Nine Rubies staff for hosting (I really love those ladies), to Sophy for helping me set up and for bringing me wine, and to all the lovely local knitters who came by.
