Basilica

In case you missed it, over the summer Interweave released a new book called Free Spirit Shawls.  It's written by Knits Editor Lisa Shroyer, and includes 20 different shawl designs with great descriptions of different shawl shapes and techniques to create them.  I'm honored to have a design included in the book, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to tell you about it.  Here's my Basilica:

Basilica is a triangular shawl knit from the bottom up (which was new for me!), featuring a chevron-y, zebra stripe-y pattern in two colors of luscious Brooklyn Tweed LOFT.  It's a shallow and long shawlette, perfect for wearing as a kerchief and adding a little punch to your outfit.

More deets...

Size: 54" at widest point and 13.75" deep

Yarn: Brooklyn Tweed Loft (100% wool; 275 yd 251 m/50 g): #21 hayloft (MC), #23 fossil (CC), a bit less than 1 skein each.

Needles: US 5 - 3.75 mm

Gauge: 22 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch

You can see more about Basilica on Ravelry here, and more of the designs in Free Spirit Shawls here.

And remember, you still have until Thursday night to enter the Anzula giveaway!

This is lovely, and I can't believe I haven't noticed it around the internets before now! I love me that herringbone :)
